I’ve never really understood it, I’ve always hated the art style, and I didn’t find the gameplay even remotely interesting. I have hated nearly every version of The Binding of Isaac that I’ve played (up to now) with a burning passion. As odd of a way to open a review as it may be, I need to admit something. The bundle can be a great way to experience the game since the recent update that completely smoothes out progression and makes the game enjoyable right from the start. The RRP of the Switch version is high for a game that was once a fairly throwaway indie title, but the price reflects the amount of growth that the Afterbirth+ version has been through to bring it to the Switch. Both DLCs are beasts in their own rights, they change the game significantly and compliment the game in their own ways. The second DLC expands the same way but also with selected additions from the community, mod support including a Steam Workshop and many, many bug fixes. The first DLC expands on generally everything, but more on the core aspect of item interactions. The DLCs of the game adds even more content on top of that such as new characters, items, enemies, bosses, challenges, secrets and game modes to keep the game fresh and interesting for many more hours. The Binding of Isaac Rebirth is unique in this way of seemingly endless progression with unlocking and seeing new content with how they interact.
